Welcome to my antique restoration blog.
A new era for Simon Lorkin, antique restorer, based in Normandy, France since 2004.
Well, I have to admit it was long overdue, but it’s finally here…my brand new antique restoration website. It’s now all singing and dancing…great for smartphone and tablet viewing and much easier for me to update with new antique restoration projects. Hopefully It will show you all on a more regular basis my recent projects and therefore my passion for my work.
I’ve had a busy few years developing my business, not just restoring antiques but also classic car woodwork and interior trim. It’s evolved progressively over here in Normandy, where I’ve now had ‘Open Days’, participated in Classic Car shows for a number of years and won two awards for my work, giving me the highly respected French titles of ‘Maitre Artisan’ and ‘Maitre Artisan d’Art’.
Now’s the time to bring my website and branding up-to-date to showcase restoration projects and a little more about me, so you can get to know me and my work.
I love meeting new clients and seeing regular ones too. I love occasions, like last week, being taken out to a barn storage area of a client’s home to discover two wonderful ‘slipper’ chairs from the 1820s, with broken legs and old upholstery, knowing what I can do to revive the items. Despite being covered in years of dust and cobwebs I can already see, in my mind, the finished chairs, that are a wonderful quality and will so fabulous when they’re finished. Of course, I’ll bring you photos.
